Creating Bronze Sculptures began as a hobby for Dennis but soon turned into a side job! He uses a process known as Lost Wax sculpture. The process starts with a special wax which is shaped and sculpted into a replica of the subject. This wax sculpture is then used in the formation of a mold and is melted in the process, hence the lost wax moniker. The bronze is then poured into the finished mold and results in these beautiful bronze works of art. To put the finishing touches on the bronze sculptures they are oxidized with chemicals to a variety of patinas. These patinas range from typical bronze color to the near white you see on the Pointers with numerous shades in between.
Dennis specializes in custom crafting bronzes in the image of actual dogs so that you can memorialize your favorite dog. He works from photographs, studying all angles in order to bring out the proper conformation and expression. When the patina is applied Dennis can put the dog's actual markings onto the bronze, or finish it in an aged bronze patina if that is the customer's preference.
Price is dependent on the size of the sculpture and the price of the metal at the time of casting. Most of the displayed bronzes measure approximately seven inches in height. Typically bronzes like the ones pictured range from $750 to $1000.
